We had a lovely day yesterday for the 36th Pinewood Cross-Country meeting. We were delighted to welcome St Hugh’s, Beaudesert, Cothill, Cheam, Summer Fields, Abberley Hall, Horris Hill, Cricklade Manor and Farleigh to compete in our annual meeting. The flat course was relatively dry (for a change), although there were patches of bog! It was, however, colder than in previous years. There were many supporters and children to cheer the competitors on and the presentations and rendez-vous were in front of the school. Well done to Cheam, who swept to victory in the team events, winning Senior Boys, Senior Girls and Junior Boys. The Junior Girls, however, was won by Pinewood for the second time in 2 years!
Well done to the following Pinewoodians on their individual successes:
George L: 3rd in the Junior Boys’ race
Wizzy W: 3rd in the Junior Girls’ race
Amelia W: 5th in the Senior Girls’ race.
Charlotte W: 7th in the Senior Girls’ race
Josh P: 11th in the Senior Boys’ race
Detailed schools results were as follows:
Senior Boys: 1st Cheam, 2nd Abingdon, 3rd Beaudesert, 4th Pinewood
Senior Girls: 1st Cheam, 2nd Pinewood, 3rd St Hugh’s
Junior Boys: 1st Cheam, 2nd Beaudesert, 3rd St Hugh’s
Junior Girls: 1st Pinewood, 2nd Cheam, 3rd St Hugh’s
Our thanks for all the support given by parents and friends which went to make a great afternoon of sport.
