Learning Support
Pinewood offers excellent Learning Support provision in its teaching expertise and resources.
Teaching techniques developed and used at Pinewood have been published and adopted by teachers, schools and Local Education Authorities around the country. It is school policy to seek to identify and provide for the special educational needs of individual children. There is a team of five Learning Support teachers and the department has four well-resourced teaching rooms. Learning Support teachers usually work with children on a 1:1 withdrawal basis, as well as working closely with class teachers and parents. Where appropriate to a child's needs, in-class support may also be arranged.
The Learning Support teachers work in co-operation with a number of allied professionals when appropriate, including Educational Psychologists, Speech Therapists, Optometrists and Physiotherapists. The aim is to encourage and enable each individual to fulfil his or her potential, through appropriate teaching and support. |
