Pinewood Adventure
"We are the pilgrims, Master, we shall go
Always a little further it may be
Beyond that last blue mountain barred with snow
Beyond that angry or that glimmering sea."
James Elroy Flecker - The Road to Samarkand
Pinewood Adventure exists to challenge and extend our children, to take them out of their comfort zone and to fire within them a spirit of adventure, independence and confidence.
The Adventure Programme is aimed at the group and the individual. On a group level it involves co-operation, tolerance, team-building, listening and leading. For the individual it engenders character, independence of spirit, resourcefulness, determination, resilience, self-reliance and self-discovery.
Pinewood views the development of the child holistically. From Year 3-8 the children are exposed to a variety of stimuli, most importantly when they travel off-site. It combines education, recreation and fun.
We hope it instills in our children a curiosity, a sense of adventure, and a "can do" attitude that permeates through to their approach to other spheres of their young lives, and teaches them valuable lessons about themselves and others that will stand them in good stead for future years.
Pinewood Adventure takes the children to Mill-on-the-Brue in Year 4, Pensarn Harbour in Year 5, a French exchange tour and a sailing weekend in Chichester in Year 6, a French Chateau visit in Year 7 and Brecon and Cape Adventure in Scotland in Year 8.
