L'echange avec ecole Bignon, Mortagne au Perche - 06/06/2008
The Year 6 pupils and 3 members of staff set off early on Thursday 29th May for our annual exchange to Normandy.
There was great excitement and a little anxiety. An uneventful journey saw us arrive in Mortagne at 1800. We all departed into our various families. Friday came and everyone swapped notes about their first night. A tour of both school and town was followed by an England – France football game which we won very easily!
During the weekend the children did various activities with their families (swimming, bowling, Festyland, Le Mans etc). We all met up again on Monday morning for a trip to the Arromanche Museum and the American cemetery at Omaha Beach, a very interesting and moving visit for a lot of the children.
The return trip was interesting as we very nearly missed the ferry as we got caught up in a go slow by French lorry drivers. We arrived back here tired but having a spent a very enjoyable five days in France.
