The Friends of Pinewood Summer Evening - 08/07/2008
After the disappointment of cancelling last year's event, there was an element of determined british spirit this year - come rain or shine, the Summer Evening would go ahead.

Pre-Prep children could hardly contain their excitement as they descended on the area to be entertained by the aptly named Nutty Nicky and her sidekick Captain Spanner, who would later do a turn on a unicycle, much to everyone's delight. Before the Prep School athletics had even finished, the Pre-Prep had sampled the bouncy slide and bucking bronco and were eager to get at the ice creams and tuck.
Mr A-G was the first to brave the stocks, followed by a steady stream of game on members of staff, who faced up to the queue of eager pupils keen to get their revenge with a wet sponge or three. The coconut shy proved to be enormously popular as did the face painting and hog roast.

The whole evening rounded off with the traditional Year 8 Girls' Fashion Show, including an interloper in the form of Gapper Tom (or was it Thomasina?)
The total amount raised on the evening is likely to be well in excess of £1,000, a proportion of which will be included in our annual charitable donation and the rest will go towards small projects within the school (past projects have included the Assault Course, Pre-Prep Garden and more recently the electronic screens in Junior End and Pre-Prep).
Our thanks go to everyone who helped make this such a special event, particularly those mothers and teachers who were prepared to take on the challenge of face painting.
