Last Sunday The George Bailey Annual Charity Bike Ride and Rubber Legs Challenge took place at Pinewood, thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to making it a fabulous day.

It was wonderful to see so many children, parents, siblings, pets and staff join in and share the experience.  The orange t-shirts looked fabulous and worked very well against the Wiltshire countryside. The weather was perfect and we all met after for hotdogs, ice cream, swimming and social.

It was great to see so many 2009 leavers return to take part in the Bike Ride and catch up on last year, thank you for making the effort to join us in what I appreciate is a busy month, it was lovely seeing you all again.  We look forward to seeing you again next year.

I feel the photographs taken by Tori Martin and Tracy reflect the day beautifully, I would like to thank them for their contribution to the day.  Their photos can be viewed on the school website under Events Gallery, they are fabulous so do take a look.

Thank you very much to the wonderful team who made the whole day possible:

To Tina Fox Edwards for organising the Bike Ride, Tina did an amazing job and her work for the Trust is greatly appreciated.

To Jenny Martin for the perfect catering and to Carol Baker for producing and marketing such gorgeous t shirts.

To all the marshalls:  Adam Fox-Edwards, Brian Baker, Carol Baker, Julie Dyke, Sarah Freeman, Piers Martin and Tina Fox-Edwards, for keeping us safe and enabling the event to take place.

To Liz and David Woods and Caroline Brandi for help sell drinks etc on the day.

Finally, huge thanks go to Philip, Henrietta and the staff at Pinewood for their continued support for this event, it is greatly appreciated.

The Sponsorship money is still coming in from the Rubber Legs Challenge, please continue to drop off your sponsorship money at the School Office.   So far the day has raised a fantastic  £1,500. The money raised goes to The George Bailey Trust, which helps provide care for children with cancer.

It is a wonderful achievement, thank you all for your part in making this such a truly remarkable day which has and will continue to touch so many, well done children.

With Kind Regards from Cathy Bailey.

Summer Evening 3.jpg

An enormous thank you to everyone who helped us and to all the families that came along to support us on Friday.

We are thrilled to announce that we have raised the grand sum of £2,800.  This is a fantastic amount that will be put towards a project for the school that FOP are hoping to support (more details to follow).  We will also give a proportion of the funds raised to the charity that we choose to support next year.

Papplewick Polo Tournament Winners

On Monday 5th July Pinewood’s polo team travelled to Papplewick.

We took a team of four, which consisted of Felix Spooner, Sophie Akehurst, Issy Hills and Harry Davies. It was a mini tournament with a Group A and a Group B, each team played two chukkas.

We were in Group A along with Cothill, Papplewick A and Summerfields A. Each game was three-a-side, so Sophie and Issy swapped. Our first match was Summerfields A. We won 4-0 which was a promising start. Next up was Papplewick A and were apparently ‘the team to beat’. We had a close match and beat them 1-0. Next was Cothill who looked like a very good side. We went up 1-0 but then they equalised later on in the chukka, resulting in a 1-1 draw.

Luckily the draw was enough to enable us to win the tournament. Overall it was a fun afternoon, everyone played very well and all the players and spectators enjoyed themselves and Pinewood came back with a large cup!

Harry Davies

JB: Without a doubt Harry Davies was the player of the tournament and he scored all seven Pinewood goals
