The Pinewood equestrian team of Ben Ryder, Alex Norris and Jess Tregoning started the season with all guns blazing by winning the 80cm class at the senior inter schools one day event at Stonar School on Saturday. Despite having a team of only 3 riders and being one of the youngest teams, they won by a huge margin of 17.5 points. All three riders rode good dressage tests and went double clear within the time in the show jumping and cross country sections to secure victory. Individually they all came home with honors too: Ben came 2nd, Alex came 3rd and Jess came 10th.
Congratulations!
Old Pinewoodians Caitlin Belsham, Philli Hall and James Norris also won their classes!

We are delighted to announce that the first phase of the Nursery extension was completed over the summer holidays.
The alterations, which have doubled the size of the Nursery and refurbished the existing space, will allow the children to enjoy more space for learning and play. Phase 2 which is expected to be completed by the end of the Autumn, will see a canopy over some of the outside playground, providing an outdoor learning environment that can be used year round.
To view more pictures of the Nursery this term and their fantastic new facilities, please click here. If you would like to visit the Nursery to see the changes, please contact the school office.

On Tuesday the 19th September, Years 6 and 7 were treated to an incredible performance of Shakespeare’s Tragedy of Othello by the Nuffield Theatre. With a reputation for professionalism and stunning acting, the company of three actors did not disappoint. The villainy, deceit and treachery of Iago and the fall from grace of the noble Othello, resulting in the tragic death of his true love Desdemona were played out with fierce passion and verve. So effective and enthralling was the production that one member of staff almost forgot he was in the theatre at school, such was his level of absorption in the action. Sadly there was no theatre bar at the end for us to pick over the nuances of the play – but it was certainly a most memorable performance and a tremendous introduction to Shakespeare for many of the children.

Sunday 16th October, at Pinewood, 2.30pm kick off.
We would love as many Old Pinewoodians as possible to come and support or play in the rugby or hockey matches. These are always close fought, but great fun matches against the old rivals. It is always good to see as many former pupils as possible back at Pinewood, so why not come and support the teams, even if you are unable to play.
If you would like to play or come and support on the day, please contact Jim Bischoff, so that he has an idea of numbers.
