Pinewood enjoys its own riding teams and any child with their own pony can join the teams which are co-ordinated by a current parent. Children compete in dressage, show jumping, cross-country, and one day events at all levels, together with ‘Jumping with Style’ classes.
The school is registered with the National Schools Equestrian Association and regularly takes part in qualifier competitions, with Pinewood qualifying for the National Championships for the last 4 years. Within the teams children train individually with occasional team training organised for the bigger events. Pinewood can be recognised at events by their distinctive Pinewood numnahs and cross-country colours of blue and grey.
In 2013 they qualified for a number of classes in JAS, SJ, and dressage and had a successful weekend with an individual 3rd placing in the dressage and team placings in both the 80cm and 90cm classes. They also gained 2nd place in the prestigious Schools Show Jumping competition held at Hickstead.
Pinewood has also been running its own NSEA show jumping qualifier since 2012 with over 200 children competing from neighbouring schools.
Pupils can enjoy Riding as an activity on a Tuesday where they can learn to ride or improve their skills on school horses. They are taught by qualified British Horse Society instructors.
