Congratulations and thank you to everyone who entered the art competition “Portrait of the artist”. The standard of work was very high and I was glad that I did not have to choose a winner myself.
Again, we had an open vote and everyone was allowed to vote for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
The results of the voting were as follows:
1st place: Cassia Thynne (Year 8) with a massive 63 votes for her pastel portrait of Van Gogh. As a successful art scholar to Cheltenham I would have expected no less from Cassia.
Joint 2nd: Florence Tuckey and Ella Hall (Year 8) with 42 votes each.
3rd place: Cosmo Del Mar (Year 7) with 10 votes for his self-portrait in the style of Klimt, which I thought was very clever, but perhaps a bit too sophisticated for the voting audience! Cosmo had just seen the film “Woman in Gold” which tells the story of the famous Klimt painting ‘Portrait Of Adele Bloch-Bauer I’, which for a while became the most controversial and expensive painting ever sold.
With 9 votes each we have two winners from Lower School, Caitlin France of Year 4 and Emily Orpen of Year 3.
All the other entries got between 1 and 3 votes, so the results were quite conclusive.
