Our aim in the Catering Department at Pinewood is to give the children a well-balanced diet using locally sourced produce.
We pride ourselves on cooking a varied selection of dishes from around the world – from traditional English fare to Italian, Chinese and Indian. These meals, as well as our cakes, biscuits and bread are cooked from fresh on site by our highly trained chefs with over 60 years combined experience, headed by our Domestic Manager, Susan Clark.
Meal times are well-ordered social occasions which are eagerly anticipated.

Nursery and Pre-Prep are served the main hot dish of the day with freshly baked bread, followed by a choice of the day’s pudding or fresh fruit. Nursery children begin by having lunch served to them in the Nursery, but eventually come over to the main school dining room as their confidence increases. Once in the Prep school pupils have a choice at lunchtime of a hot main dish, a hot vegetarian option or the salad bar, which always contains a protein element. There will usually be a choice of hot or cold puddings, fruit salad and fresh fruit.
Throughout the Pre-Prep and Prep school, good table manners are promoted and the children are encouraged to try all the food on their plate. We are able to cater for special dietary requirements and are guided on this by the Surgery (who keep the relevant information for all pupils). Parents are always welcome to come and discuss specific diets with the school chefs.
