Sherborne Cracking the Code Day

Before Half-Term, 9 of our Year 7 children went down to Sherborne for the annual Cracking The Code Day in which they pitted their wits with a host of other west country prep schools across science, maths, geography, history and languages. In science they extracted DNA from a strawberry; in maths they deciphered a message by solving a wide array of mathematical problems; in geography they put together a project solving water and AIDS crises in poor countries; in history they debated whether Mary Queen of Scots should have survived or been killed; and in languages they attempted to translate all the underground stations in a Swedish city. They all had a lot of fun, and gained some good exposure to both the Boys’ and Girls’ schools and their impressive facilities.
