We are delighted to be awarded Runner-Up Prep School of the Year by the Tatler Schools Guide.
“‘Pinewood is different from other schools,’ says head Philip Hoyland. It’s less cash-and-cashmere than some – ‘A smiley greeting says more than a tucked-in shirt,’ the school tells us. Most pupils live within 40 minutes of the place, with a tiny handful of Londoners. Boarding (from Year 5) is weekly and flexi. There’s strong emphasis on the great outdoors – there are the famous Pinewood Adventure weekends, and masses of sport (three-ball football, anyone?). Leavers bagged 22 scholarships to senior schools last year, and there are close ties with Cheltenham and Marlborough. Mr Hoyland is old school in the best possible sense. Ask him to tell you his elephant-in-a-cage analogy – we don’t have space to share it here, but it’s a neat encapsulation of the school’s mission to give pupils the confidence to push boundaries without breaking them.”
