Introduction from the Headmaster – Mr Philip Hoyland.

After 18 Years at Pinewood our current Headmaster Philip Hoyland and his wife Henrietta will be retiring at the end of Summer Term (July 2020). The School has thrived during their tenure. Pinewood has grown and its facilities have expanded considerably. Thanks to their hard work and dedication Philip and Henrietta will be handing onto our newly appointed Headmaster; Neal Bailey, one of the most successful Prep Schools in the country.

Introduction from the Incoming Headmaster – Mr Neal Bailey

In May 2019 our Board of Governors were delighted to announce the appointment of Neal Bailey on the retirement of Philip Hoyland. Neal is currently Head at Mowden Hall in Northumberland since September 2014. Neal will take over headship in September 2020 and will be joined by his wife Nicola who will play a full role in the School, along with their two boys ages 11 and 9.

Introduction from the Head of Pre Prep (Nursery, Reception, Year 1 & Year 2) – Miss Ruth Hall

Ruth joined Pinewood in 2006 as Head of Pre Prep and is also the Director of Education for the School.
Ruth, together with the all the Pre Prep team are committed to creative teaching and nurturing the needs of children, whilst providing a safe, loving and secure environment where children thrive.

Availability of places
The usual entry points for children joining Pinewood are in the Pre Prep Years (Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and 2), but Year 3 is also a popular entry point. We welcome all enquiries, both for future years entry and, where space allows, for immediate entry. We would be delighted to consider any potential interest you may have and can inform you of any current spaces within the School. Please do contact our Registrar Emily Miller at to discuss further.

How is the School responding to the current Covid-19 pandemic?
The School is following all government guidelines to ensure it is able to provide a safe environment for all pupils, staff, parents and visitors. The School is currently open to the children of key workers and is providing a stimulating and supportive environment for those pupils who are on-site with us. In addition the School has successfully launched the Pinewood Virtual Learning Programme (PVLP) which provides a mixture of live lessons, online work, independent study and form tutor and Learning Skills support for all our pupils who are currently at home.

The School is very much looking forward to all pupils being able to return as soon as is it deemed safe to do so by the government and will be working hard to make any changes to our school environment which are required.
