What a fantastic afternoon, with sunshine, a large supporters’ crowd, well organised stewarding from the Rendcomb staff and a very pleasing result!
Despite last minute injury problems the Pinewood U8, U9, U10 and U11 teams went to face the tough and steep courses. The Under 8 and 9 race was off first with some very creditable performances on the very steep hill within metres of the finish. The Under10/11 race was run at a fast speed with some good efforts again being made on the fiendish hill.
The pleasant surprise for all Team Pinewood was winning 1st place in the school championship, with George Knee and Peyton Lloyd lifting the shield for us!
Very well done to all of the runners from Year 3 to 6, who helped make the day such a success.
The following children achieved notable individual results:
Girls U8/9: 3rd – Minnie Fletcher
Boys U8/9: 1st – Ben Conner
Girls U10/11: 1st – Peyton Lloyd; 2nd – Susi Rochmankowski
Boys U10/11: 1st – George Knee; 3rd – Josh Paulin
Postscript to the 2015 season
Well the season has ended on a high and, as James Siebert the Director of Sport has indicated, a truly outstanding one, with success for all in almost every age group in the school. It goes without saying that enthusiasm, commitment, focus and determination are key in this hard running and, at times, very cold sport! The boys and girls of Team Pinewood have proved it all pays off. Excellent all round!
