Last week Year 4 went on a trip to the Asmolean Museum. The Ashmolean museum is the University of Oxford’s museum of art and archaeology. It contains world famous collections ranging from Egyptian mummies to contemporary art.
Year 4 are currently learning about Ancient Greece in their creative curriculum, so it was a perfect opportunity to consolidate some of their knowledge with exhibitions including pottery, jewellery, ancient coins, and a variety of statues to look at. The children had a fantastic day and mentioned some of their highlights:
“I loved looking at the pottery, the handles had such beautiful designs” Evie Cowling
“It was amazing to see how long ago they had the first Olympics” Seb Woodford
“I loved seeing the pots that had been found under the sea” Rex Knight
