From an early age, children are taught about the importance of playing sport and activities in a balanced and enjoyable manner. All pupils are encouraged to give their best, regardless of their ability, to achieve both individual and team goals.
Music plays an important part in school life at Pinewood, as we believe it is paramount to a holistic education. Children are given the opportunity to perform in one of the many concerts held throughout the year, all catering for inclusivity, for specialist ensembles and soloists.
Drama at Pinewood is taught not only to instill an enjoyment of the subject, but also to nourish creativity, build self-confidence, improve communication skills and develop a facility for empathy and consideration of other people’s views.
The Art department at Pinewood is a thriving, creative and exciting environment where pupils are encouraged to see themselves as artists. The aim is to instill joy and passion for art in an environment where pupils have an opportunity to extend their learning through their own ideas.
Pinewood Adventure exists to challenge and extend our children, to take them out of their comfort zone, and to fire within them a spirit of adventure, independence, and confidence. It is a much anticipated and loved part of the Pinewood calendar.
To widen the breadth of education available, Pinewood offers a range of exciting activities, that the children participate in every Thursday. From Base Building to the Taste Appreciation Society, the options are limitless.
“In extra-curricular areas the breadth of achievement is excellent. Pupils achieve high levels of success in a broad range of sporting and creative pursuits, due to the high levels of support they receive and the many opportunities they have to participate in team sports, sing in choirs, play in the orchestra or perform in the purpose-built theatre. Pupils are highly adept at working collaboratively to create cohesive performances in dramatic, musical and sporting spheres.”
