Pinewood Adventure builds on our ethos of Learning Outside the Classroom and brings together education, recreation and fun.
The Pinewood Adventure programme is aimed at both the group and the individual. On a group level, it involves co-operation, tolerance, team building, listening and leading. For the individual, it engenders character, independence of spirit, resourcefulness, determination, resilience, self-reliance and self-discovery.
The Pinewood Adventure weekends are scheduled for the end of April and the end of September (depending on the year group). Year 4 children visit Oaker Wood in Herefordshire, Year 5 and 7 enjoy an outdoor adventure in Wales, Year 6 have a bushcraft experience, and in Year 8 there are two trips, first a combined humanities trip to Dorset in the Autumn Term, and then an adventure trip to North Devon after their exams in the Summer Term. As an introduction to the Pinewood Adventure programme, Year 3 have an outdoor experience in our own glorious 84 acres of woodland and outdoor classroom. We also organise an annual school ski trip.
