What to Consider During a Prep School Open Morning
Discover what to look for when choosing the best prep school in Oxfordshire, Wiltshire or Gloucestershire for your child.
We are thrilled to announce that Pinewood has been chosen as a Finalist in the Independent Schools of the Year Awards 2025, in the category Pre-Prep School of the Year.
The awards, organised by the Independent Schools Guide, are a prestigious celebration of excellence across the sector, recognising schools that go above and beyond to provide outstanding educational experiences. Each year, hundreds of schools enter, showcasing the breadth of innovation, care, and opportunity offered by independent education across the UK and beyond.
Being selected as one of only five finalists in our category is a real honour. Pinewood School is recognised alongside four other exceptional Pre-Preps: Highfield Pre-School, Hurlingham School, St Christopher’s School & Nursery, and Truro High School for Girls.
This year’s awards shine a spotlight on “the demonstrable benefits of an independent school education and showcase the innovative, caring and life-enhancing student experience which pupils in our schools receive,” says David Moncrieff, Chair of the Independent Schools of the Year judging panel.
At Pinewood, we are incredibly proud of our Pre-Prep, and this recognition is a wonderful celebration of what makes it such a special part of our school community. Our Deputy Head of Pre-Prep, Jo Siebert, says: “We are delighted that Pinewood Pre-Prep has been named a finalist in the Independent School Guide Awards! This achievement is a true reflection of our wonderful staff, whose dedication and care ensure children are always at the heart of everything we do. Their hard work and willingness to go the extra mile make our Pre-Prep such a special place to learn and grow.” From the very start, children’s curiosity, creativity, and confidence are nurtured in an environment full of joy and discovery.
Daily life in Pre-Prep is rich with adventure – whether it’s exploring our 84-acre grounds in wellies and boiler suits, finding delight when a new idea clicks, or sharing smiles. It’s a place where learning feels like play, and play inspires a lifelong love of learning.
Parents often remark on the spirit of Pinewood:
“Pinewood is pure spirit. Children are children, with muddy knees from climbing trees, full of zest and passion for life and for learning. It’s a slice of heaven and the most idyllic start to life you can offer a child.”
Our youngest pupils thrive in a setting where kindness is the guiding value, celebrated daily through initiatives such as our much-loved Kindness Café. From the smallest acts of thoughtfulness to the biggest achievements, every moment is recognised in a warm and affirming way.
This finalist place is a testament to the joy and care at the heart of Pinewood Pre-Prep, and we are thrilled to see it recognised on a national stage.
