At Pinewood, the children are encouraged to explore a wide range of opportunities, across the whole spectrum of passions and interests. Through Pre-Prep Clubs, children have the chance to try out new things and possibly find hobbies that may last a lifetime, choosing from a varied programme of optional after school activities, aimed at broadening their experiences and teaching new skills. The exciting choice of clubs on offer gives children the chance to develop everything from confidence to fitness, and curiosity to teamwork. Experiences at this age could foster a life-long skill or passion, or could simply be an activity that they enjoy trying for a term, before moving on to other options. Both are equally important in the life of a well-rounded child and it is always a pleasure to see pupils discovering new passions as they grow through the school.
Our very popular clubs are run by Pre-Prep staff, as well as some outside providers. The choices available to the children might include such diverse activities as Karate, Little Chefs, Choir, Sports Stars, Dance, Get Crafty etc. Clubs are open to children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, and take place every day from 3.30-4.20pm, following a snack at the end of the normal school day. We would recommend, however, that younger children start with just one club per week, whilst older children might be able to cope with two per week. This can then be built up through the year if appropriate. Once a club has been selected, your child will do the same club each week for the term. Some clubs will incur a cost to pay for external providers.
Our after school clubs are part of a whole school initiative and have been designed to prepare the Pre-Prep children for the step up to the Prep School, when they will have the opportunity to sample an even wider variety of extra-curricular activities through the SKILLS programme.
