Pinewood Virtual Learning Programme
Making Learning An Adventure in a safe environment.
The pace is fast, the children are engaged and energised, the live lessons take such a burden off me, and you have set a great mix of independent tasks and live guidance.

The Pinewood Virtual Learning Programme offers a comprehensive and engaging provision of learning to all children in Pre-Prep and Prep.
With the country in a nationwide lockdown and schools sadly shut to all those except vulnerable children and children of key workers, we have once again moved to online learning, which is offered through the Pinewood Virtual Learning Programme.
Staff have worked to produce a timetable which we believe is of maximum benefit to all our pupils. Children are offered a large number of live lessons, the number of which are tailored to the age of the children and their specific needs. All lessons are provided through Google Classroom.
Although some lessons are fully interactive throughout, on other occasions children are set a task to complete independently after a short introduction, whilst the teacher remains online and available to answer any questions or give specific guidance.
We are particularly conscious that many of the children may be in front of a computer screen for a considerable amount of time each day, and finding the correct balance is crucial. With this in mind, a broad mixture of activities have been factored in, to allow pupils to move away from their computers either during timetabled lessons or during the allocated activity slots.
We recognise that there is no one size fits all with remote learning and what suits one household may not work for another. However, we are determined to strive for a provision whereby all of our pupils can enjoy and benefit from a creative, imaginative and informative platform.
Sport and Extra-curricular activities remain a key focus within the PVLP. Children have the PE lesson online as per their timetable. The teacher will be online to start-up, guide and instruct pupils with the topic/work. Extension work for pupils to enjoy beyond lesson time is available and encouraged. Every afternoon pupils will have the opportunity to engage with virtual games/sport instruction, drills, skills and challenges, staff are always online, ready to guide and answer any questions.
Daily activities/co-curricular tasks, covering health, fitness, creativity, design, cooking, wildlife, life skills are available for pupils to engage in each afternoon. Children will be encouraged to try new areas of interest – providing a fun element of learning beyond the classroom - supporting physical/mental well-being.
We are very conscious of the toll remote learning can have on children and their families. Our Head of Well-being and Emotional Support continues to be available to all children and is providing regular resources and tips for children, to help them remain positive in this difficult situation.
