English is a vital way of communicating in school, in public life, and internationally. Literature in English is rich and influential, reflecting the experience of people from many countries and times.

Lessons are taught with a variety of activities, investigations, and games, concentrating on many different areas of Maths, whilst giving children the opportunity to explore different ideas and concepts.

The main ethos of the Science department is to provide an engaging learning environment, with exciting practical investigations being the focus of the majority of lessons.

The Computer Science department believes that the ability to use Information and Communication Technology (ICT) effectively is an essential life skill in modern society.

At Pinewood we believe that learning languages is the key to reinforcing communication with people; it also helps children to open their minds to different countries and cultures.

Geography at Pinewood aims to provide pupils with the skills and knowledge needed to understand both the subject itself and the world in which they live today.

The History syllabus at Pinewood aims to produce socially aware children who are able to ask pertinent questions, as well as giving intelligent and thoughtful answers.

TPE at Pinewood provides children with the opportunity to study religion and the nature of God, question and discuss philosophical concepts and consider ethical dilemmas.

Classics at Pinewood aims to provide pupils with an understanding and awareness of the Ancient World. 

Within our Life Skills programme we aim to encourage core values of decency, good manners, honesty and consideration for others, linked closely with trust and mutual respect.
